\nAbstract:
\nPediatric kidney disease encompasses a broad range of congenital and acquired disorders that affect renal development and function. Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) represent the leading cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in children, accounting for nearly 50% of pediatric CKD cases [1]. Other significant etiologies include hereditary nephropathies such as Alport syndrome, and glomerular diseases including idiopathic nephrotic syndrome and post-infectious glomerulonephritis [2,3].
\nAcute kidney injury (AKI) is also a major concern, particularly in critically ill children, and is associated with increased morbidity, mortality, and risk of progression to CKD [4]. Early recognition and appropriate intervention are essential, as pediatric kidney disease can have long-term consequences on growth, neurodevelopment, and cardiovascular health [5].
\nAdvancements in pediatric nephrology, including molecular diagnostics, renal imaging, and interdisciplinary care models, have improved diagnostic precision and patient outcomes [6]. However, disparities persist in access to care and early detection, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
\nEfforts should focus on increasing awareness, promoting early screening in at-risk populations, and strengthening specialized pediatric nephrology services to improve outcomes and quality of life.<\/p>\n
